The competition in the bedding world of business is really tough. Whether its the mattress world or the bed linens world, they are always trying to outdo each other. When it comes to the mattress world, there is a lot going on between Simmons and Sealy right now for some mattress dominance. Simmons which has been doing really well is now being copied by Sealy so they can boost their profits.
In the luxury linens world, there are similar battles. Luxury bedding obviously costs a lot of money but to help make sales some companies will use luxury fabrics but really poor construction to bring the price down. A good example of this is with sand washed silk sheets. From this price standpoint, these are incredibly more affordable but they will also fall apart really quickly as well. Conversely, you have satin weaved silk sheets which will last a very long time and are much better in construction but they also cost a lot more.
