like what are the code of ethics and do they follow them? what are the consequences if they don’t?

some websites could be helpful too

thank you

Here’s a snippet from the first link in the source category below

Members of the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. Conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist’s credibility. Members of the Society share a dedication to ethical behavior and adopt this code to declare the Society’s principles and standards of practice.

There are two ways to look at journalistic ethics.

1.) Look at them as a guideline and "hope" all journalists would follow them

2.) Look at them realistically and see how they are practiced in the real world. (i give a few links at the bottom as well of these examples)

A.) For the most part – no – they are not followed by today’s "journalists". Our society of instant gratification – particularly when it comes to entertainment – has bred a generation of corrupt journalists who will say anything and do anything to get a few more ticks on the rating scale, or sell a few more papers in the Sunday press.

A code of ethics essentially says to strip yourself of all personal identity – remove yourself from the report – remove your own political views from the discussion, and report on it as a completely influential figure in the room. but as the links below will show you – this never happens in this country.

Facts get omitted to create a better story. Quotes get misused and almost always taken out of context. Everyone just wants to spew forth their opinion anymore – and hope they can get a cult gathering of people who agree with them.

Makes for great TV – but also makes for the exact opposite of what an ethical journalist aspires to be.

like what should i do asson as ive finished doing my degree…..?
anyone no…?
and some advice plzzzz
thankyou so much

Well, I would certainly make sure my Journalism degree included a minor in Media. In fact, a degree in Media and Journalism would be best, with many hours of Speech, and more English than is "required". I would get on my resume’ as much public speaking and activities in the community as I could. While you are in school, or summers, try working with local TV news as an intern. You may not make any money, but it will pay off big time. Get a portfolio going on writing you have done and submitted, even if it is to "letters to the editor". Get involved with your student Journalism association/fraternity and do as much PR work as you can for any other organizations. Every bit of exposure helps. Finally, a great personality is vital. Don’t try to cultivate a phony one, or mimic somebody else. It won’t get you far. And be preprared for being the best qualified, and still not getting the job. (awww…). When you speak of TV journalism, you are really talking entertainment. And "stars" are not born,..they are made.

I went to USC (the REAL USC!) Their School of Journalism is a major at the actual university, so it’s located within the Columbia campus. Just apply to USC and note your preferred field of study. Good luck, and go Gamecocks!

Its common place in the USA for people from other countries to lie about their hardship in order to gain a VISA Or green card.. its too hard to believe that its everywhere.. when people DO wanna live int he USA.. but its hard to phathom that when your airdropped in park forest il and stay in the woods. that you were escaping the hardships of somolia when you came down with a jumpsuit and a full parachute pack.. and supplies.. I know you’re not with the AIR FORCE Cause i called them at the time.. no one was dropping africans in my back yard .. from the US military.. they were busy with a war.. so whats your excuse. and youre not REALLY GOING TO KEEP UP APPEARANCES THAT YOU DIDNT RIP ME OFF AND POISON ME ARE YOU?
