Israel will not allow journalists in to cover the assault on Gaza?

Posted on April 6th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 15 Comments »

Doesn’t this seem disingenuous to you? Journalists have always been on the battlefields and imbedded with troops to bring the story to the world. Why would this be any different unless Israel has something to hide?

They are afraid of the world will find out of their crimes against the Palestinians.

Posted on April 5th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 25 Comments »

Around the world, journalists are increasingly being killed. They die in the crossfire. They die at the hand of criminals and corupt goverments. They die in tragic accidents. In the case of targeted deaths, these acts are meant to bury both the storytellers and the stories they’re driven to write. This film takes us inside the stories of 7 journalists who gave their lives, beginning February 2002, with Wall Street Journal Reporter Daniel Pearl.

What legacy has the 19th century radical press left journalists today?

Posted on April 4th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 1 Comment »

Im doing a report on the radical press and I have all the information all written down but I want to summerise it with an idea on what they left journalists today and im stuck. Any ideas?

What at one time was accepted as our best source of information has become the worst source. We once believed that when the media told us something it was trusted information. It was distributed based on high professional standards and was fact or very close to fact. Now the media is saturated with people who have very low personal professional standards and could care less how accurate the information is. They spread half truths sensitized with inaccuracies and twisted dialog. Some talk show people have been caught using false information and even videos that have nothing to do with the events they are reporting on (i.e.: Hannaity using a McCain and Palin campaign video and trying to pass it off as a book signing event for Palin). We are all entitled too our opinion and we can try to convince others we are correct but when such an act is done on public radio and television using false, unsupported and fabricated Information it should be illegal and banned. Why the networks allow people caught doing this to remain on the job is unbelievable. If a police officer is caught fabricating information on a traffic ticket they get fired, if an attorney provides false information in a court case they face debarment – why can TV talk show people spread false information and nothing is done about it?

Why is it always women who are portrayed as the ambitious, often promiscuous journalists?

Posted on April 2nd, 2010 by admin in journalists | 4 Comments »

Anyone else noticed this? I see far more male journalists in real life, but in movies and books the ambitious, career driven journalists are usually females who will often sleep around a lot, sometimes to fuck a story out of a man.

Why is it women who are portrayed as the ambitious journalists when in reality there appear to be more male journalists? Please don’t argue with me on this point, you’re wasting people’s time and being pedantic if you do.
Oh. I expected intelligent answers. And my source? Just my observation.

Have you ever seen a real live journalist in action to make that statement ?

I’m not talking about on tv , I mean real life !

Why are the journalists complaining about being processed during the Peninsula incident?

Posted on March 31st, 2010 by admin in journalists | 1 Comment »

The cops/soldiers asked the journalists to leave, and they didn’t… When people were being arrested inside the hotel, they got surprised that they were being ‘processed’ as possible instigators in disguise? Isn’t this police/security protocol everywhere in the world?

I think the cops was not able to inform them to leave at the hotel because they where inside and been trap.
they are questioning that they were handcuff by the police and it was illegal to arrest without a warrant.

How do journalists avoid common pitfalls when writing press releases?

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 1 Comment »

What are some problems or pitfalls that journalists have to deal with when writing articles? Give examples.

Well, for starters, journalists don’t write press releases. Press releases are written by publicists and given to journalists, who may then re-write them into articles if they are newsworthy.

Probably the biggest pitfall to avoid when re-writing press releases into an article is having a tone that’s too "PR." Companies, governments, and individuals love to describe their accomplishments in glowing terms, but journalists have to be objective. You can’t call something "fantastic," say – it can’t sound like an advertisement.

It is also the responsibility of the journalist to make sure that all of the information provided is correct and accurate, and not depend just on the press release for information.
