Why do journalists sometimes do not take refugee accounts seriously?

Posted on April 20th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 1 Comment »

I’ve read that journalists do not consider refugees from war-torn countries as valid and credible sources. Why is that?

Its common place in the USA for people from other countries to lie about their hardship in order to gain a VISA Or green card.. its too hard to believe that its everywhere.. when people DO wanna live int he USA.. but its hard to phathom that when your airdropped in park forest il and stay in the woods. that you were escaping the hardships of somolia when you came down with a jumpsuit and a full parachute pack.. and supplies.. I know you’re not with the AIR FORCE Cause i called them at the time.. no one was dropping africans in my back yard .. from the US military.. they were busy with a war.. so whats your excuse. and youre not REALLY GOING TO KEEP UP APPEARANCES THAT YOU DIDNT RIP ME OFF AND POISON ME ARE YOU?

What are the best movies about journalism/journalists?

Posted on April 16th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 6 Comments »

Hey everyone!

For my journalism class I am compiling a list of movies about journalists and journalism which really capture the profession. For instance, I am not interested in Fletch, but I am interested in All The Presidents Men.

What are your suggestions?

All the Presidents Men was my first choice.

The Front Page the original one from the 30s/40s.

Good Night and Good Luck about Edward R. Murrow.

The one about the guy who was the whistle blower about the tobacco industry, the Insider I think.

Is the Israeli government right or wrong to forbid international journalists access to Gaza?

Posted on April 14th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 20 Comments »

the official line is that journalists go in at their own risk (of being killed by Israeli troops) and that they must not endanger Israeli troops to protect journalists.

The Israeli high court has disagreed with the ruling/

Is it ever justifiable for any reason to deny reporters access to anywhere?

The simple answer is that Israel do not want the world to see the truth They have broken so many rules of engagement such as using Phosphorus in civilian areas, Have attacked UN run schools, Have attacked a UN aid convoy just to name a few.Israel think that they are above all international rules and laws and seem to be doing just as it wishes

What does the future hold for journalists?

Posted on April 12th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 4 Comments »

The growth of the Internet is changing the role of journalists. The boundary between journalists and some bloggers seems very blurred. Will there still be a role for professional journalists in future and if so, how will the job change?

Journalists should be objective in their writing. I think that as long as there are current events, reliable, unbiased journalists will be needed to report.
On a side note, I do think that journalism will become more and more dangerous and the wars in the middle east continue, as well as the crisis in Darfur and North Korea. Citizens abroad will still need to be informed on the situations. I can only hope that journalists are chosen carefully and know what they are getting into when traveling internationally for a story.
But as for your questions, journalists will be needed regardless of the number of bloggers and people putting videos online. Hopefully the world will continue to be leery of someone’s rant on youtube, and instead turn to the news or their local paper to get the facts.

Is it a little weird that journalists like Anderson Cooper have parents like Gloria Vanderbilt?

Posted on April 10th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 3 Comments »

How realistic can these journalists be if they are rich even above average hollywood celebrities. It’s so wealthy they don’t even have to learn how to drive or button shirts.

Besides Anderson Cooper (whom I’ve never watched), I can’t think of any journalists who have parents like Gloria Vanderbilt.

How do you think female journalists on other networks feel about the women who work for FOX news?

Posted on April 8th, 2010 by admin in journalists | 4 Comments »

Do you think they take them as serious, or feel they are being used, or letting other female journalists down.

They’re probably jealous because Fox has the hottest female(and male) anchors.
