Obama says "That’s just not true" and neither Charles or Dianne contested those comments, just took them as fact.

You’re assuming they had credibility to begin with.

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA — A 32 percent tuition increase in UCLA in November sent students out of their classrooms to protest the augment.

Riots and protests at the Universities of California (UC) and California State Universities (CSU) mirrored the impact education cuts have on students.

Salaries for professors have been slashed and they are now mandated by the state to take furloughs, which forces them to take nine unpaid days off per semester meaning a 10% salary decrease.

Many agree that cutting funds for public education in California, especially making cuts before reducing expenses in other state-run programs, have terrible and even more costly effects on society in the long term.

Education expenses were given less of a priority than the monies dedicated to prisons, with the state spending $41,000 a year per prison inmates and only $8,000 a year per student.

How do i acquire the journalistic style ?

i’m a future journalism major,and i can’t make head or tail of how i can improve my writing skills,most of the classes are in english,and although i won’t have to use it at least in my country, where French is the business language..i was wondering what do journalists major to perfect their writing techniques ? any pointers ?

Journalists were at one time supposed to report the news. As it happened without prejudice.

If you always ask who, what, when, where, and why, it seems you might annoy people.

Don’t think of it as being so structured. Think of it as being curious.

Meet someone for the first time? Someone in your life have a big event? You ask questions based on who/what/etc. A geniuine interest in others is helpful in life, and not just journalism.

How high-quality should a journalistic photo for a newspaper be?

I am writing a story for my school paper, and the photographer who was supposed to work with me is going out of town over the time that he can shoot the story… I’m thinking I may have to shoot it myself. I was wondering if there was any minimum quality requirement as far as the sort of camera I can use. I already get the bit about objectivity, narrative, etc.

very simple principal about Printing of Photographs is – If you Can see it, you can print it. Incase you are shooting digital – then be careful, for colour you have to have minimum 300dpi and B/W 150 dpi.
In most of the cases, you might not get such dpi’s inthe camera, in that case, shoot, keeping in mind, that thepicture has to be reduced to the requisite size…and change the dpi in any image editing programme. Increasing dpi will drastically reduce the picture size. Let’s say, a picture shot in 100 dpi, of 20×30 inches, will become 6×4 inches when you increase it to 300 dpi.
Also just take care, the picture is not very contrasty – not too many shadows.
What to shoot – you are the best judge.
