what colleges in nc or anywhere offer fashion journalism?

Posted on July 24th, 2010 by admin in jounalism | 2 Comments »

i wanna be a fashion magazine editor and people has told me that i should look in to fashion jounalism or major in jounalism and minor in fashion design/merchandising or vice versa. I live in North Carolina and would like to stay in the state or atleast colleges near here but im having a hard time finding colleges around here that offer what im looking for. Can anybody help me out?

It’s hard to find colleges because good colleges often realize that they should not educate people for vocational fields in which it is virtually impossible to find a job. How many fashion magazines are there in the USA? If there are one hundred and each has six editors, that’s six hundred jobs. If five percent of those people quit their job each year, that’s thirty open jobs. There are fifty states in the country. That’s fewer than one job per state. The jobs are going to go to the relatives and close friends and colleagues of the people who are leaving. Where will that leave you?

Please do yourself a favor and consider a career in which there are jobs available.

Best wishes.

Do you think there’s an irresponsible sense of haste by the Associated Press to declare Obama victory early?

Posted on July 21st, 2010 by admin in jounalism | 17 Comments »

I mean they reported that Hillary will concede and then Hillary’s campaign refutes that immediately. They annouce that Obama has clinched the nomination without letting the entire day play out.

Do any of you feel that something is not right?
That the media is trying to push an agenda dishonestly in hopes that it would effect delegates and voters decision prematurely?

Has the Associated Press become another arm of dishonest jounalism?

I think that has been a huge issue all along.

Ideas for what to write in an animal abuse article?

Posted on July 18th, 2010 by admin in jounalism | 2 Comments »

I’m doing an article on animal abuse for jounalism class but I’m not sure what to put. I thought about putting a pisture of an animal and their story about abuse but I need some more ideas. Help?

You should do your idea. You could interview a local animal shelter and ask about the number of abuse cases they get per year, how bad of shape they’re in etc. Look at websites of non profit organizations that help animals and how they help abused animals

Where to start, With Jounalism career?

Posted on July 15th, 2010 by admin in jounalism | 2 Comments »

Hello. Ive been interested in doing a jounalism course at college or uni for the past few years, but i really dont know where to start, its been on my mind a while now, my parents keep saying its a waste of a career and studying it will get me nowhere, but tbh its my only intrest, i love writting. Wheres the best place to start off? there is a media course running at my college, but that covers advertising, media, promoting, and a little jounalism, they dont have a straight journalism course, sadly, does anyone know any colleges particular that run pure journalism courses? Thanks for the help & advice everyone.

Lindsey.

You may want to consider getting a degree in English or Public Relations. An English degree would probably do more for you in the area of Journalism. Another degree choice might be in Communications.

Hey Soul Sister Lip Dub by Lebanon High School

Posted on July 10th, 2010 by admin in jounalism | 3 Comments »

Train’s “Hey Soul Sister” was the song of choice for this semester’s collaborative effort between Mrs. Kazmierczak’s jounalism class and Mr. Milakovic’s communications class. A very upbeat and positive message between two young people served as the theme, and the “Dream Team” came up with prop suggestions. The classes met one time together, a couple of times separately, then joined together on the day of filming for a walk through, a filmed practice run in order to watch themselves, then the final filming. No editing was done, except to add titles. We had fun filming it, and hope you enjoy watching.
